Ryokan Togetsutei

Located just across from Seiryo-ji temple, Togetsutei was first established in 1897 and started as a sacred place of worship where people would come and pray for protection of fires. Along with the changes of that time, Togetsutei relocated to where it is now by the Togetsukyo bridge in Arashiyama. Luxuriate in the historical remains and beauty of Arashiyama and enjoy perfect authentic cooking at our Ryokan.

In Arashiyama you can enjoy the best of Cherry blossoms in the spring, natural greenery in the summer, beautifully colored autumn foliage and a radiant winter wonderland almost like you're in a world of black and white. First you may want to start in the beautiful Japanese garden of Tenryu-ji temple which has been registered as a world heritage site, then move on to Hokyo-in temple where the autumn foliage unfolds right before you eyes. Absorb the healing of Jojakko-in temple's relaxing atmosphere then experience the historical feel of the Heian era at Gio-ji temple. There are many more places to see such as Horin-ji temple and Nison-in temple as well. In this beautifully blessed area of Arashiyama where the Oi-gawa river runs through, our first residence facility, "Hekisenkaku" has many Japanese cultural surroundings and a fantastic view of Arashiyama which can be enjoyed from the two open air baths in our premium rooms. A private and memorable experience for you and that special someone. The other residence, "Shuzankaku" is located at the foot of the mountains which has one room that is equipped with a private natural hot springs bath, which is great for the shy people who have a natural resistance to public baths.
Which ever residence you choose to stay in, experience the very Kyoto-like atmosphere with the aroma of incense, the cultural Japanese surroundings and the relaxing and rejuvenating Arashiyama hot springs. Your experience here with the beautiful surroundings, unconditionally traditional hospitality and delicious authentic Kyoto cuisine that our chef's have put body, mind and soul into preparing will be satisfying and will always be a memory never to be forgotten.
